The Englewood/Cape Haze, Florida, is located on Florida’s southwest coast on the Cape Haze peninsula, and is situated partly in Sarasota County and partly in Charlotte County. Englewood offers a peaceful lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, but close enough to Sarasota and the Tampa/St. Petersburg area to enjoy the benefits of the many amenities available there. Englewood was founded in 1894 by Herbert Nichols of Englewood, Illinois, who established lemon groves here.
Englewood has four beautiful beaches, including Englewood Beach, which is located along S.R. 775 near the Charlotte County and Sarasota County line. Here a wide expanse of beachfront is combined with recreation areas, a boardwalk, picnic tables, a concession area, and lots of paved parking. Across the street are a variety of restaurants, shops and clubs. In the Englewood area you will also find two state parks and miles of excellent fishing along Lemon Bay and the Charlotte Harbor Estuary.
